WATCH: Keir Starmer’s first speech sparks fury for glaring omission – ‘Where is it?’ Keir Starmer arrived to thundering applause outside Downing Street but eagle-eyed viewers couldn’t help but notice one thing missing.
Keir Starmer has sparked fury within minutes of becoming Prime Minister. The Labor leader pulled up outside Downing Street after meeting King Charles at Buckingham Palace shortly after 12.30pm.
Thunderous applause rang out from the crowd as bystanders waved flags and cheered. However, eagle-eyed viewers couldn’t help but notice one glaring omission. They noted that the crowd had been given Union, Welsh and Saltire flags but England’s St George’s flag was noticeably missing.
This prompted fury with many complaining of the “poor optics”, accusing the new PM of “starting as he means to go on”. One person fumed: “Why is no one flying a wee St George cross flag in Dowing Street? I see the Saltire, Welsh dragon & Union Flag but no English flags? Seems quite poor optics.”
Another asked: “Where’s the St George Cross?” A third exploded: “Where’s the f***ing Cross of St George flags? “Only been Prime Minister for five minutes and he’s f****d up.” “Just watching the group in Downing Street waving flags, fair enough but where’s the English flag,” another chimed in. “They have Union flags, Saltires and Welsh. “Where’s the Cross of St George? Aye, start as you mean to go on right enough.”
