Drew Barrymore is most definitely a good witch.

The actress and talk show host made magic on The Drew Barrymore Show, surprising Wicked star Ariana Grande with the original Glinda wand from the 1939 classic, The Wizard of Oz.

Grande portrays Glinda in Wicked, the new film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical that serves as a prequel to L. Frank Baum’s Wizard of Oz, telling the backstory of Glinda and Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), the Wicked Witch of the West.

Glinda has a bit of an obsession with wands, so Barrymore brought out the ultimate one. “I have something that’s extremely exciting and special,” she told Grande. “It’s actually, it was owned by the Smithsonian and now it’s owned in private hands. But for the purposes of our sit down, they loaned it to us.”

“Bring out the original Glinda wand, please,” Barrymore directed her crew as Grande sat in stunned disbelief.

“Are you serious right now?” Grande asked, before pretending to run off the set with the wand, saying, “Thank you guys it’s been fun. Yeah, I’m kidding. I’m kidding.”

Barrymore noted how the pink-clad Grande seemed to be a natural match for the piece of film history. “You look so perfect with it,” Barrymore told her.

“How did you even, how did you pull this off?” Grande gaped. Barrymore explained that once they knew Grande was going to be a guest, the entire crew and production team rallied to get the original wand as a special treat for Grande and viewers.

Sadly, Grande didn’t get to keep the wand, which was on loan from its owners. But maybe if she clicks her heels together three times, it’ll reappear.

The pop star has a long relationship with the character of Glinda, having first fallen in love with the show as a child when her mom brought her to see the original cast on Broadway. Grande and original Broadway Glinda, Kristin Chenoweth, have maintained a tight bond for years — and Chenoweth officially got to pass the wand (and make a brief cameo) with the debut of the new film that is breaking box office records.
