Travis Kelce reveals how his family REALLY feel about the Taylor Swift spotlight and how he handles fame
With Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs getting ready for their first NFL game of the season later tonight, many will be wondering if Taylor Swift will be in attendance.
Swift’s regular appearances at Kansas City games have become their own media circus and generated plenty of attention for the pop star, the tight end, and the team.
Speaking on CBS Mornings as part of a promotion for a new Pepsi advertisement, Kelce said that he had some idea of what he was getting into and isn’t deterred by the constant media attention paid to him and his family.
‘It’s the life I chose I guess, I have fun with it, it comes with the territory of wanting to do fun stuff like this and signing up for cool sponsorships like this and endorsements,’ the star tight end said.
He added, ‘Everybody is loving it, Mama Kelce is having so much fun, I think my dad is slowly getting more comfortable with it, and [brother] Jason has always been a pro at it.’
Travis Kelce says the attention from being Taylor Swift’s girlfriend ‘comes with the territory’
He says most of his family, including his mother Donna Kelce, has come around to it
Kelce was even pressed for his favorite Taylor Swift song, but he played a bit coy in his response.
‘I got a bunch of favorite songs, they’re all my favorites. You see me at a concert, you’ll see me singing them all.’
When asked about why people would be rooting for him, Kelce said he hopes people are doing it with genuine intentions.
‘I would hope it’s because they see I’m just a genuinely good person, and I love what I do, and I love doing it with the people that I do it with.
‘I’d rather give everybody happiness and something to cheer about than otherwise.’
He even opened up about the retirement about his brother Jason, with the Chiefs tight end not backing down or being afraid for showing his emotions.
‘I’m forever grateful for who my brother is in my life, he’s always been the guy that I can lean on, so a moment like [Jason’s retirement], where he finally called it quits and hung it up, it was definitely one of the most emotional moments I’ve had with him.’
Kelce and the Chiefs will be playing in a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game when they take on the Baltimore Ravens at home on Thursday evening.
