Taylor Swift sings Crazier from Hannah Montana: The Movie for surprise mashup segment during Eras Tour stop in Edinburgh: ‘You get extra points if you know this!’
Taylor Swift went down the nostalgic route and performed her song Crazier from the 2009 Disney film, Hannah Montana: The Movie, during her Eras Tour stop in Edinburgh on Saturday. The Grammy winner, 34 – who emotionally congratulated a couple who got engaged during night one in Scotland – sang the track during the surprise mashup segment of the show.
While at the piano, the songstress mixed her 2023 song, All Of The Girls You Loved Before, from the EP The More Lover Chapter as well as Crazier. ‘You get extra points if you know this next song at all because it is really, really old,’ she expressed to the sold-out crowd in the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, per People.
At one point during the performance, she gushed to her fans singing along, ‘Oh my God, you’re so unbelievable.’ The second mashup that she sang included The Bolter from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, as well as Getaway Car from Reputation (2017). For Hannah Montana: The Movie – which was a box office success upon its release in theaters in 2009 – Swift contributed to the soundtrack with the song, Crazier.
Taylor co-wrote the country ballad with Robert Ellis Orrall and also made a cameo in the movie as she performed the tune. Crazier landed on the number 17 spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart when the song was officially released in March 2009. It also peaked at number 11 on the U.S. Pop 100 Billboard chart, and appeared on other music charts in countries such as Canada and Australia.
By November 2014, Crazier had sold a whopping 1 million copies and soon became certified platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). The Climb – which also appeared on the movie’s soundtrack and sung by Miley Cyrus – also became a major success, and landed the number four spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number one on U.S. Adult Contemporary Billboard chart.
And in 2009 at the MTV Movie Awards, The Climb earned Cyrus the award for Best Song from a Movie. Taylor kicked off her three-day concert stop for her Eras Tour in Edinburgh on Friday, June 7 – with the last set for Sunday, June 9. Her tour stop in Scotland has already received critical praise, with one critic labeling the Edinburgh concerts ‘a spectacle with substance.’ During Friday’s concert, the star sent fans into a frenzy when she also sang two surprise mashups of tracks on stage.
She first did a guitar mashup of Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve as well as I Know Places. Taylor then also performed a piano mashup of ‘Tis the D**n Season and Daylight. Her Edinburgh stop has been eventful thus far – with the songstress excitedly congratulating a couple who became engaged during her show. In a now-viral video shared to TikTok, Swift stated on stage with a big smile, ‘I love performing this entire show in the sunlight because I’m pretty sure I just saw somebody getting engaged over here.’
After receiving confirmation from the crowd, she added, ‘You have no idea. I never get to see that. Cause it’s like…dark usually at night. But it’s not right now, so congratulations. Wow.’ The I Knew You Were Trouble singer further gushed, ‘I just saw the whole thing! Man, that’s amazing. Thanks for doing that at my concert. That’s a big moment. Huge.’ And during Friday’s concert, she also assisted a fan who was in distress – briefly pausing the show until she was assured that help was given.
‘Need help right in front of me, right in front of me please,’ she said into the microphone while gently playing her guitar. ‘She’s right in front of me, just gonna keep playing until we notice where it is, right, right there. I’m just gonna keep playing ’til somebody helps them, then I’m going to keep singing the song.’ ‘I don’t think anybody’s seen them yet and they’re gonna, because we’re not gonna keep singing, we’re just gonna keep talking about the people that need help in front of me.’
‘Just let me know when…I can do this all night,’ she continued, and once the fan received help, Taylor stated, ‘Okay, you’re good Awesome.’Swift will soon make more stops throughout the U.K. in cities such as Liverpool, Cardiff and also London – before heading to other European cities. The global tour – which kicked off last year in March – is slated to conclude later this year on December 8 in Vancouver shortly before the Christmas holiday.
In early May, the Grammy winner’s boyfriend Travis Kelce supported the singer during her Eras Tour stop in Paris – with the NFL player being joined by Gigi Hadid and boyfriend Bradley Cooper. The couple were first publicly linked when she attended a Kansas City Chiefs game last year in September.
