Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce didn’t make their Met Gala debut as a couple last night. Unsurprisingly, they chose not to hit up any after-parties either.

Neither Swift nor Kelce was seen in New York City on Met Gala night. Swift, in particular, had a very good reason to not be there.

Swift is resuming her Eras Tour on Thursday, May 9 in Paris, meaning she is deep in rehearsals if not already preparing to travel to France. People and Entertainment Tonight confirmed ahead of the Met Gala that Swift wouldn’t be going after Page Six ran a report claiming she could make an appearance.

Entertainment Tonight learned that she decided to skip the gala so she “can continue preparing for her Eras Tour.” People also reported that Swift would be “focusing on rehearsals and tour prep” rather than attending fashion’s big night and its after-parties. Swift last attended the Met Gala in 2016. She was a co-chair of the event that year and wore a silver snakeskin Louis Vuitton minidress with her platinum bob.

As for Kelce, TMZ reported that the Kansas City tight end had been invited to the gala, but chose not to attend. He was most recently seen in Miami on Sunday, May 5. Kelce went to Carbone Beach’s event that evening, where he posed with chef Mario Carbone and his girlfriend, celebrity publicist Cait Bailey.

Kelce told Entertainment Tonight in early April that he would travel to Europe to support Swift during his off-season. “She’ll be all over Europe,” Kelce said of her tour. “There won’t be a bad show, I promise you that.” Regarding his plans to see her, he added, “Oh, you know I gotta go support. You know it.”
