Prince Louis is celebrating his sixth birthday today and will undoubtedly have a very special day today surrounded by his loved ones.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’s youngest child is said to be spoiled rotten as he celebrates another big milestone. But while Louis is accustomed to lavish gifts and the high life, there was one particular gift he once received from his uncle, Prince Harry, that quite quite a special meaning behind it.
The Duke of Sussex reportedly splashed on £8,000 for a very special gift for his nephew’s christening, and it had a poignant link to his mother, Princess Diana. The late Princess of Wales was known to have a passion for collecting the first editions of classic books and so Harry decided to carry on this tradition with his nephews and niece. According to reports, the duke purchased a first-edition copy of A.A Milne’s Winnie the Pooh from 1926.
In the first publication of the book, only 30,000 copies were made and it is understood Harry Prince purchased one of these rare books. A friend of the Duke of Sussex said that books played a key part in Harry’s favorite childhood memories. A source close to Harry previously told the Mirror: “One of Harry’s happiest childhood memories was being read a bedtime story by his mother. “She loved all the old classics and Harry had the brilliant idea of starting a little library of first editions for Louis, Charlotte and George to enjoy as they get older.
“He originally wanted to get Lewis Carroll’s Through The Looking Glass, which was on sale for £24,000, but decided Winnie The Pooh would be more suitable for a first time. “Robinson Crusoe was William’s favorite book, but Harry loved all things A.A Milne.”
