Joe Alwyn opens up about his previous relationship with Taylor Swift….Details below
Joe Alwyn has spoken out for the first time about his breakup with Taylor Swift, after having since seen her start dating Travis Kelce, much to the public’s delight.
In an interview with The Sunday Times Style on June 15, the Kinds of Kindness actor, 33, described his time with the pop star, 34, as “long, loving” and “fully committed.” However, that is not the picture many paint, with Swift accused of not taking the relationship as seriously as she is her latest romantic endeavor. When asked if he had listened to Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department – believed by fans to be inspired by their breakup Alwyn responded thoughtfully.
“In thinking on what I was going to say, I would think and hope that anyone and everyone can empathize. … This isn’t a direct answer to your question, but just thinking about what I want to talk about,” he told The Sunday Times Style. “I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years.”
It was confirmed that Swift and Alwyn ended their relationship in April 2023, coinciding with the start of Swift’s Eras Tour. A source indicated that “differences in their personalities” were the main reason for the split. Alwyn reflected on the public nature of their breakup. “What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in,” he continued.
“So, you have something very real suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, press, where it is then dissected, speculated on, pulled out of shape beyond recognition. “The truth is, to that last point, there is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said. I have made my peace with that.”
