Taylor Swift fans are cashing in after attending the Australian leg of the megastar’s Eras Tour. Dedicated Swifties were left reeling when the pop star’s visit Down Under finally came to an end on Monday, and the Bad Blood star jetted out of the country after performing seven sell-out shows in Melbourne and Sydney.
Several attendees are now flogging their free concert wristbands for hundreds of dollars on Facebook Marketplace. They are advertising the bands for as much as $300 each thanks to the huge demand for the keepsakes. The free LED wristbands were given to ticketholders who attended the sold-out shows and they light up in sync to create immersive visual effects. While some were modestly priced, some are listed for as much as $300 each.
One advert described the item as ‘used’ but ‘like new’, assuring potential buyers the light was ‘still blinking’. Another Swiftie put a staggering seven wristbands up for sale for a massive $1200, with the cost per wristband at $171.40.
Meanwhile, other fans are selling small plastic bags of confetti they claimed to have collected at the show for as much as $50 for ten pieces.
Fans have also been reselling merchandise bought at the concerts as a huge number of advertisements continue to circulate on sites including Facebook Marketplace. Swifties paid huge prices for the merchandise, with massive crowds lined up before the shows.
Posters were priced at $40, while a tour hoodies cost a staggering $120 and T-shirts were priced at $65. Among other items, water bottles were priced at a huge $40 and canvas tapestries were available to buy for $55. Swiftmania has taken Australia by storm in the past few weeks as Taylor put on seven epic shows for fans across Melbourne and Sydney. More than 600,000 Swifties attended the Australian leg of the Eras tour, while thousands more fans didn’t manage to get their hands on the sought-after tickets.
A record-breaking 96,000 fans attended each of her three nights in Melbourne and a further 83,000 Swifties flocked to each of her four shows in Sydney. Taylor brought her hotly-anticipated tour to a close on Monday evening with her final performance at the Accor Stadium. She made sure to send off the crowd with some very warm words, leaving the audience cheering in delight. ‘Looking at this crowd, the biggest crowd we’ve had at our four shows here!’ she told her fans.
