Chiefs’ Mahomes and Kelce attend Mavericks game, receive mixed reactions from Dallas crowd: Patrick Mahomes is a hometown hero in Dallas
Kansas City Chiefs superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce attended Game 3 of the Western Conference finals between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Sunday night.
The reigning Super Bowl champions were seated courtside for the game and were prominently featured on the arena’s Jumbotron, eliciting distinctly different reactions from the Dallas fans. When Kelce appeared on the big screen first, he was met with a chorus of boos from the crowd. However, the mood shifted dramatically moments later when Mahomes was shown, receiving a warm welcome and cheers from the same audience.
The Dallas Mavericks also acknowledged the duo on social media, tagging Mahomes in a post on X and humorously introducing Kelce as “Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.” Kelce handled the boos in good spirits, feigning surprise before waving to the crowd and pointing to Mahomes, who was seated next to his wife, Brittany. Mahomes, a known Mavericks supporter, enthusiastically responded to the cheers by standing up and raising his arms to energize the fans.
Mahomes’ support for the Mavericks is well-documented, with frequent tweets backing the team. Kelce, on the other hand, was enjoying his second night at the American Airlines Center. He had attended the Dallas Stars’ 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of their Western Conference Final on Saturday.
