NFL News: Justin Herbert Dealing with High-Ankle Sprain
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is dealing with a high-ankle sprain that he suffered in Week 2 vs. the Carolina Panthers.
There is optimism that Herbert will play on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers but high-ankle sprains can take several months to fully heal.
When speaking with reporters on Friday, Herbert said the pain in his ankle is “not great.” Even if he does play in Week 3, it’ll be a pain tolerance thing going forward.
That is music to the ears of the Chiefs faithful. Herbert is 2-5 in his career against the Chiefs, including four straight losses.
Despite the losses, the Oregon product has been productive against Kansas City. He’s completed 66% of his throws for 2,003 passing yards with 16 passing touchdowns and six interceptions.
But dealing with an ankle injury, Herbert’s mobility will be limited. And that could spell great things for a defensive front led by Chris Jones.
