When it comes to celebrity divorces, the time they take to be finalized differs immensely. While some couples like Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady only announced their split once their divorce documents were signed, sealed, and delivered, other couples, like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, haven’t shied away from spending years to get their divorce finalized.

When it comes to Billy Ray Cyrus‘ divorce from Firerose, it seems the former couple opted for the former. Despite their messy divorce documents, which Cyrus filed on May 22, the two were officially declared divorced on Monday, August 5, TMZ first reported.

According to the outlet, the terms of their settlement are straightforward: Firerose will not be getting any money from Cyrus and Cyrus will be handing over his claims to credits and royalties for the songs they wrote and released together.

Along with their divorce, Cyrus issued a telling statement to the outlet. “This has been absolutely the most crazy insane scam I have ever heard of,” Cyrus claimed of his ex-wife, who he alleges only married him to get the Cyrus last name. “Let alone the fact I’m right in the center and basically the target of the scheme.”

“It’s unfortunate it played out this way,” his statement continued. “Not only was it a web of lies that put me in physical danger, it was a matter of the heart. Love is blind, that’s for sure.”

Cyrus’ statement, albeit distressing, only reiterated the allegations he made against Firerose (real name Johanna Rose Hodges) in his divorce papers.

According to the documents obtained by People, Cyrus alleged she spent $96,986 on 37 unauthorized charges on his business account, including $70,665 in payments to her attorneys, in the few weeks following their split.

“As a result of these fraudulent charges, I am concerned that Ms. Hodges is in possession of other information that she may use to make fraudulent, unauthorized charges to my business and personal credit cards and accounts,” Cyrus wrote.

In response to the allegations, Firerose’s lawyers denied the accusations. “To claim Wife has made 37 unauthorized charges is untrue,” her attorneys wrote in the response filing, per People. “Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage. Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off.”
