Breaking News:Lady Gaga Earns Her First No. 1 Hit On One Chart More Than A Decade Into Her Career…See More 👇
Lady Gaga broke into mainstream consciousness nearly two decades ago with her signature blend of electronic dance and pop. Since then, she’s continued to churn out huge hits–the kind that the entire world listens to when they arrive. Her latest drop is another smash, and now it’s risen to a new peak, helping the woman behind the cut do the same.
“Die with a Smile” lifts to the highest rung on both of Billboard’s global charts. The tune surges from the runner-up rung to No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. US. this week.
Gaga’s new collaboration with Bruno Mars marks her inaugural No. 1 on both of the worldwide rankings. “Die with a Smile” actually brings both superstars to the summit for the first time in their careers.
“Die with a Smile” opened at No. 2 on both of Billboard’s global rankings last week. The tune was a huge hit upon its arrival, but it wasn’t able to best Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather,” which remained steady in first place, despite facing tough competition from two of the most famous musicians in the world.
Billboard only introduced the two lists of the most-consumed tracks in the world in 2020, so there are still many well-known names who have yet to reach the top 10 or No. 1–or even place on the list at all. The Billboard Global 200 uses a methodology that combines streams and sales to show what the planet’s population is listening to. The Billboard Global Excl. US, meanwhile, operates in much the same way, only with all data from America removed.
“Die with a Smile” is Gaga’s first top 10 on the global charts. She’s previously climbed as high as No. 22 on the Billboard Global 200 and No. 21 on the Billboard Global Excl. US. On both tallies, her largest win–before this new smash–was “Rain on Me” with Ariana Grande.
Mars, meanwhile, has previously entered the uppermost region at least once on both rosters. On the Billboard Global 200, he claims two additional top 10s, and both came to him as one-half of Silk Sonic alongside Anderson .Paak. “Leave the Door Open” missed out on ruling by one space, while “Smokin Out the Window” peaked at No. 8. On the Billboard Global Excl. US, only the former cut made it to the top 10, where it stalled at No. 4.
