The Kansas City Chiefs saw one of their former players hang up his cleats on Thursday, ending a quality NFL career.

Veteran quarterback Nick Foles announced on social media that he’s retiring from the NFL after spending 11 seasons on the gridiron. Foles posted a video thanking all the teams, players, and coaches he’s played for in the league.

After much thought and prayer, I've decided to retire from the NFL. It's been an incredible 11-year journey filled with unforgettable moments and amazing people. From being drafted by the Eagles to winning the Super Bowl, every step has been a blessing.

The 35-year-old Foles is most known for his run in 2017 with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he stepped in for an injured Carson Wentz and led the Eagles to their Super Bowl win in franchise history.

However, before he led the Eagles to a Super Bowl title, Foles spent the 2016 season with the Chiefs.

Foles signed with Kansas City in Aug. 2016 after being released by the Los Angeles Rams a few days earlier. The veteran struggled mightily with the Rams in 2015 and was looking for a reset with the Chiefs.

Foles only played in four games with the Chiefs, which included one start. His lone start was against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9. The veteran QB completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 187 yards and a touchdown in a 19-14 win for the Chiefs.

After his only season with Kansas City, Foles went on to play with the Eagles, Jaguars, Chicago Bears, and most recently the Indianapolis Colts in 2022. Chiefs fans don’t have many memories of Foles, but they’ll remember that he was a consummate professional on and off the field.
