Breaking News -Evander Holyfield And Lennox Lewis Strongly Disagree On Mike Tyson’s Performance Against Jake Paul..See More 👇
Mike Tyson‘s ring return against Jake Paul continues to spark debate in the boxing world.
The former undisputed heavyweight champion decided to don the gloves once more at 58-years-old to face Paul, 27, in a stadium fight in Texas that was live streamed on Netflix.
The event was delivered on a grand scale and had the whole world talking. With a fight of the year contender in Katie Taylor versus Amanda Serrano 2 as well as a reported 108 million live global viewers, there’s no question the the promotion was a success.
That same positivity can’t be applied to the main event, however, in which ‘Iron’ Mike was competitive for an extremely short period before barely throwing a punch. Paul coasted to a unanimous decision victory after eight two-minute rounds.
Very few in the boxing world have praised the action, but Lennox Lewis – who stopped ‘Iron’ Mike in 2002 – told the media he felt it was a good fight.
“Good fight and a great event. I’m just glad nobody got knocked out.
Yeah [I’m proud of Tyson].”
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, another former Tyson opponent in Evander Holyfield disagreed and echoed the thoughts of many.
“It wasn’t a good one. You can tell something is wrong with Tyson’s leg. His balance was off.”
Both Holyfield and Lewis had talked up Tyson’s chances pre-fight. Despite toying with the idea of another bout in the ring post-fight, the 58-year-old later released a statement on social media confirming that would be his last.
Paul moves ahead with an 11-1 record. There’s no doubt he is a money-man in the sport, as evidenced by some strange call outs from current world champions Artur Beterbiev and Daniel Dubois.
