Emma Willis will return to our screens tonight to host the Team GB Homecoming. The presenter will be joined by Vernon Kay to celebrate the Olympic stars after their incredible efforts in Paris this summer.

Team GB surpassed their triumph in the Tokyo games as they won 14 gold, 22 silver and 29 bronze medals. Liverpool star, Katarina Johnson-Thompson was one of the athletes that contributed to the haul with an incredible performance in the heptathlon to take the silver medal.

Tonight’s event is being being broadcast on BBC One at 8.30pm and Emma can’t wait for the Team GB stars to get the recognition they deserve. She said: β€œThere’s a fantastic buzz during the Olympics, and Team GB’s Homecoming event will be the perfect way to celebrate and welcome home our phenomenal athletes.

“I have no doubt it’ll be a very fun and special evening.” Away from the screen, Emma is happily married to Busted star, Matt Willis and the two are the proud parents of three children.

Matt and Emily regularly work together as they have recently returned to our screens as hosts of Love Is Blind and also hosted the Cunard’s Queen Anne naming ceremony in Liverpool earlier this year. The two have been married since 2008 and have overcome turbulent times as Matt dealt with addiction struggles.

Matt has now been sober for many years and documented his journey in Fighting Addiction. Emma was nervous about participating in the documentary as she told Women’s Health: “It was f***ing terrifying to make it because we always try to be as private as we can be in a public industry, and that was really putting ourselves out there. Even the night before it aired, we were like, ‘What is going to happen tomorrow?’.”

Matt was flooded with support after the documentary aired and Emma shared an emotional thank you message to fans on Instagram after the show aired. She said: “The response to Matt’s documentary has been overwhelming. Thank you all so so much for your kind messages and for sharing your own stories and experiences with addiction, I know that’s not always an easy thing to do.

The couple are now stronger than ever and regularly share messages of support for each other on social media. In an interview with the ECHO earlier this year, Matt explained how focusing on his sobriety is so important to him as it is only through this why he has been able to rebuild his happy family life with Emma and their three children.

He said: “Recovery comes first because it has to and, without that, everything falls apart. Then it’s family and then it’s everything else.

“I’m really proud of my relationships and that’s something which I work hard on. And that’s what keeps me being able to do everything else.

“My kids are the thing I’m most proud of and the fact I’m still married, which is a mind melter.” He laughed: “How have I pulled that off? She’s way out of my league.”

Matt regularly heaps praise on his wife, but Emma told Women’s Health she doesn’t like it when her husbands suggests he is “punching above his weight.” She said: “He says that a lot. It’s so weird. I’m like, have you seen yourself in the mirror?”

Emma shared her secrets for staying young in the Women’s Health interview as she heaped praise on the benefits of cutting sugar from her diet. She said: “I’ve been quite enjoying going sugar-free. I did it at the beginning of the year for about eight weeks and I noticed a massive difference in everything. My sleep patterns were better, I was less bloated all over, less puffy.”

Emma said she started to prioritise her own well-being three years ago as she said: “Probably from when I turned 45, I could feel myself changing and getting older, and being more tired. I think as well when you see your parents getting older.

“That was really a switch in my mentality – when my body suddenly felt mid-40s and tired, (I began) changing things like sleep and giving myself time to do something. Even if that’s something I don’t want to do; I don’t want to go to the gym but I do want to be strong.
