The couple tied the knot at the New York City Public Library on Sept. 21, 2024.

Ally Romano said “I do” in the stunning wedding of her dreams!

The daughter of Ray Romano, 34, married Zachary Wilezol in a glamorous ceremony held at the iconic New York City Public Library on Fifth Avenue on Sept. 21, 2024, surrounded by 254 friends and family members.

Celebrity event planner Marcy Blum transformed the space into an “Italian garden courtyard” with an edge, adding moody colors like pinks, reds and lots of green. Blum incorporated both the couple’s deep love of family and personal touches for both.

Ally shared with PEOPLE that getting married in Manhattan was especially meaningful as it was where she and her new husband Wilezol, 35, first met and started their romantic journey.

“We knew it had to be in New York where we currently live,” the bride says. “We wanted a venue that encapsulated the city and would be appreciated by all.”

For her walk down the aisle, Ally chose a bardot top and full skirt by Israeli designer Dana Harel from Mark Ingram in a duchess silk in a candlelight white. “Once I tried it on with this amazing veil that was adorned with peach flowers and green leaves, I knew it was the one,” Ally tells PEOPLE.

Ally’s father Ray Romano walked her down the aisle at the wedding and the couple said their own vows to each other at the altar, which was decorated with garden greenery. “We opted to write our own vows, which was one of my favorite parts of the entire weekend,” says the bride.

“We opted for no bridal parties and instead had all of our siblings, (Ally has three brothers and Zach has a brother and a sister) walk down the aisle, as well as our parents,” she says. Zack walked down the aisle to a Lord of the Rings song played by the string quartet, which was a surprise for our officiant, Ben, who shares a similar love for LOTR,” she adds.

The couple’s romantic wedding venue at the New York Public Library was decided upon immediately after visiting the landmark. “I had actually seen some photos of a wedding in the library and was wowed by how gorgeous the building is so it was the first venue we saw,” she says. “And although we went looking at a few others, we (really, I) knew it was the one immediately.”

Before the ceremony began, guests were handed champagne with petit grape baskets filled with smoked camembert, fig jam and balsamic glaze. Dinner, presented by Acquolina Catering, was a 3-course meal of an antipasto, porcini mushroom lasagne plus coffee-marinated short rib and Branzino. “Food and dining has always been a crux of our relationship, and I also work in hospitality PR.,” says Ally. “We wanted both nights to put food and drink at the forefront and make sure not one person was thirsty or hungry. I think we accomplished that!”

The newlyweds chose a petite three-tier wedding cake from gluten-free cakery, Lael Cakes, that was hand-textured and featured organic fondant and sculpted fruit blossoms with flavors of earl grey, olive oil, berry and vanilla.

“The speeches by my brothers, Zack’s brother, and my dad were all so touching and funny,” Ally says of the toasts during the reception. Adds Blum: “The bride’s father’s toast was funny, heartfelt with spot-on comedic timing as one would expect!”

Ally says of her guests at the wedding, “Initially we we wanted no more than 100 people, and then the library came along and, well, the invite list exceeded 250! What was most important to us was making sure that whatever we did felt like us. We wanted it to be one big, fun party for all of our friends and family.”

“At one point the band was playing “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and a dance circle of my girlfriends from all walks of life … I think I’ve watched it 200 times,” says Ally. The couple enlisted of 16-piece Elan Artists’ Rhythm Collective band for the reception. “It was just so fun and special.”

“We met through friends of friends very organically, when we were both invited to go to Beauty Bar on 14th street on a Friday night in May 2021,” says Ally. “He spilled martinis all over me and told me I looked like Carmella Soprano. I was smitten! There’s more to that story,” she adds.
