A firefighter and his wife are facing charges for allegedly engaging in illegal activities involving a minor at their residence in Florida.
Sascha Engel and Alyssa Engel have been taken into custody following accusations made by a 16-year-old boy regarding their alleged actions at their residence in Riverview.
Sascha, 39, served as a Fire Rescue lieutenant for Hillsborough County, while his wife, Alyssa, 37, previously held a position at the state attorney’s office before their arrest.

In March, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reported that the Engels allegedly coerced a 16-year-old male visitor at their home into engaging in sexual activity with Alyssa Engel. According to WFLA-TV, the teenager confided in a trusted adult who then reported the incident to the police.
During an interview with officers, Alyssa confessed to exposing herself in front of the teenager. However, she firmly denied any further involvement, particularly any intimate activity, between the two individuals.
However, both individuals faced charges of three counts of unlawful sex with a minor. The trial will be relocated from Hillsborough County to Polk County to prevent any potential conflicts arising from Alyssa Engel’s prior employment at the state attorney’s office in Hillsborough County.
Sheriff Chad Chronister strongly criticized the couple in a statement regarding the arrests. He expressed his strong disapproval and disappointment at the disturbing situation where two adults, one of whom is a respected figure in our community, exploited a young child. This act of violating innocence is truly disgraceful and goes against the core values of our community.
Sascha Engel was placed on administrative leave without pay following their arrest. On Friday, the Engels appeared in court, where a judge ordered a bail of $50k per count, totaling $300k for the two charges.
